Update: Dividend Stock Picks for the Week of 9/17/12 to 9/21/12

Welcome back to Dividend Stock Investing for the Common Man! Thank you stopping by and supporting the idea of investing in dividend paying stocks for the long term. I wanted to recap last week's picks for you since it is important to review all investments on a weekly, if not daily, basis. It was a 7 for 20 week. 35% of my picks increased in value. It was a rough week, however we made some cash from Altria Group, Inc.(NYSE:MO) and   Stanley Black & Decker, Inc.(NYSE:SWK). On the bright side, the losing stock pick's dividend yields went up some percentage points. These stocks are stable companies who have been around for decades.

It is not how many times you win short term, but rather which investments can provide you with a steady income stream over the long term. When investing in dividend paying stocks you are protecting yourself from stock market volatility. If the market goes down one quarter, the dividend payment will help recoup the losses. Let these companies work hard so they can maintain their dividend and increase it year over year. As a shareholder, it is like receiving a raise each year. Reinvest your dividends to maximize your profits!

Keep investing as much as you can on a daily or weekly basis. Perform your due diligence and invest in companies that you feel comfortable with. Do not risk your hard earned dollars by investing in unknown, unreliable companies.

Always remember, you are in charge of your financial life. Do not let anyone tell you how to spend your money. We all have the knowledge and smarts inside of us. Make smart investments! Until next time friends, DIVIDENDS RULE!!!!!

Update: Stock Picks for the week of 9/25 to 10/1/11

As you can see below, each of my stock picks decreased in value, except HNZ. During this past week HNZ, CAT, BDN and DIS performed nicely even though the market provided lackluster returns. Click here to read an article explaining how United States stocks logged the worst quarter since the 2008 credit crisis.

I am still very bullish on the stock market as a whole. Even though the majority of these stock values went down in price, their dividend yields increased. That is why I believe dividend paying stocks have a silver lining. One must be confident when investing in stocks because it literally can feel like a rollercoaster ride at times, but if you invest in long-term, dividend paying, consistently profitable companies then your portfolio will outperform the market year after year. Each company will protect against down weeks and even economic collapses, which ever the case may be!

Investing in high yielding dividend paying stocks can solidify a stable retirement income stream. Hold on to your dividend paying stocks for the long term and reap the benefits! Feel free to watch the video below. It will boost your confidence. Until next time, happy investing!
