Update: Dividend Stock Picks for the Week of 5/20/13 to 5/24/13

Welcome back to Dividend Stock Investing for the Common Man! Thank you stopping by and supporting the idea of investing in dividend paying stocks for the long term. I hope everyone had a great week!

I wanted to recap last week's picks for you since it is important to review all investments on a weekly, if not daily, basis. It was a 7 for 20 week. 35% of my picks increased in value. It was an okay week to invest in dividend paying stocks for both the NYSE and NASDAQ. A nice percentage of my stock picks increased in value. Now would be a good time to pick up these Dividend Aristocrats! Continue to pick up multiple shares these proven winners on any pull backs and hold for long haul. I am a long term bull!

See below for more details... as well as some wonderful YouTube videos pertaining to
Medtronic, Inc.(NYSE:MDT) +$1.49! Also, check out the books below. Very interesting reads!

DSIFTCM is NOT affiliated with any of these companies. I am not a professional stock picker and am only providing my personal opinions of some of the greatest dividend paying companies!

It is not how many times you win short term, but rather which investments can provide you with a steady income stream over the long term. When investing in dividend paying stocks you are protecting yourself from stock market volatility. If the market goes down one quarter, the dividend payment will help recoup the losses. Let these companies work hard so they can maintain their dividend and increase it year over year. As a shareholder, it is like receiving a raise each year. Reinvest your dividends to maximize your profits!

Keep investing as much as you can on a daily or weekly basis. Perform your due diligence and invest in companies that you feel comfortable with. Do not risk your hard earned dollars by investing in unknown, unreliable companies.

Always remember, YOU are in charge of your financial life. Do not let anyone tell you how to spend your money. We all have the knowledge and smarts inside of us. Make smart investments! As previously stated, but very important, VYM seeks to track the performance of the FTSE High Dividend Yield Index, which measures the investment return of common stocks of companies characterized by high dividend yields. Click on the links below to learn more about VYM and why others agree that VYM should be core holding within your Roth IRA. Retirement will hit you in the face if you are not ready for it. You should be financially ready to live off of your smart working career investments. Avoid taxes for the next 30-40 years by investing post-tax dollars into your Roth IRA.

A Proven Wealth-Creator for Your IRA
Vanguard High Dividend Yield ETF (VYM) by Vanguard
This Dividend ETF Can Double as a Core Holding

It would take you years to try to mimick VYM's diversification. Investing in VYM covers you if there is a market down turn. It's better to be invested in a handful of stocks rather than one individual stock (perfect example WORLDCOM in 2002 (click here). This Vanguard ETF is definitely a long-term investment and I view it as very safe investment. A slow, lumbering giant in the making that should slowly but steadily increase the wealth of anyone wise enough to BUY and HOLD. No drama with this ETF.

Feel free to watch the hand picked Vanguard VYM YouTube videos below. Get educated about ETFs and perform your due diligence, but I'm telling you now, that VYM is where it's at. It will be around for your entire working and retirement career.

I do not work for Vanguard, I am not promoting VYM for personal gain, I am simply looking out for you, the Common Man! Until next time friends, keep saying as much money as you can because you will need it later in life!
